Miracles From a Full and Busy Life

An article by Mary-Lynn Colosimo In my first article for RENUZ, I commented on thoughts from a busy and full life. With each day of this busy and full life, I am reminded over and over again that I am blessed, that I witness miracles happening all around me each day. I want to be alert and wise enough to notice. I cannot just wake up, go about the activities of life and then rest at the end of a full day. It is my desire to live a life of abundance and notice the daily miracles. During the past week, I have noticed some of those miracles. On Wednesday, I was blessed to visit my brother and his family in Indiana. We began the visit on their boat, which is always a highlight for me. We sat and smiled and shared stories. We were content as we relaxed in a miracle of time and space. On the next day, I was able to spend time at the city’s children’s museum with my nephew’s three amazing children and their beautiful mother. We laughed and lingered with so many other families who were enjoying a very hot summer day in the cool confines of this museum meant specifically for children. We began our tour in the Egypt area boarding a flight to Cairo where we landed in a town with various sections at their physical height and level. They were so excited! From Egypt, we ran from exhibit to exhibit and I could only look on as the proud aunt whose family wanted to spend time with her. I participated in a miracle that day. I returned home to Chicago and experienced one of the most severe rains of the summer. The Midwest was being highlighted on national news stories. Neighbors were caring for neighbors as basements were flooding and memories were being washed away in the rains. One resident noted that in his basement, old newspapers of the JFK assassination were destroyed by the floods. His wife could only weep. The miracle, however, occurred when neighbors brought in food and support and physical assistance to help each another in this time of disaster. The miracles continued to occur that day and we could read about them and hear about them on the television news programs. |
The final miracle that I wish to offer also occurred within the past few days. A physician, who apparently died along with three others when their propeller plane crashed into Lake Michigan Friday morning, penned a moving farewell note to all of the group’s family and friends as their plane fell out of the sky. The physician was accompanying a cancer patient to the Mayo Clinic when their plane experienced engine trouble. The plane’s pilot was pulled from the water on Friday morning, but authorities have since given up hope of recovering the other passengers. When the Coast Guard recovered his medical bag, a farewell note was found. According to their local newspaper, The Morning Sun (Alma, Michigan), the note read, “Dear All, We love you. We lost power over middle (of) Lake Michigan and turning back. We are praying to God that all (will) be taken care of. We love you. Jim.” The Coast Guard is now saying that there is little chance that any of the four missing will be found alive, but some locals are still praying for a miracle. Perhaps, though, the miracle has already been noticed. These people have left a huge impact and that is all that is needed. Watch for the daily miracles, friends. I promise that you will find them.
